Highlands Storage Expansion Reflects Growing Demand for Personal Storage Solutions
Bella Vista’s Planning Commission has given the green light for a 6,300-square-foot expansion at Highlands Storage, a commercial facility located at 1971 Forest Hills Boulevard.
The approved large-scale development plan includes a new building on the east side of the existing facility, maintaining consistency with current design and use. Developers provided adequate landscaping buffers, stormwater plans, and driveway access that satisfied city code requirements.
As more homes are built and new residents move into Bella Vista, the need for off-site storage solutions has grown. City officials say the Highlands Storage expansion reflects an increase in housing turnover and lifestyle shifts, particularly among downsizing residents or those transitioning between homes.
The facility is located in a commercially zoned area that supports low-impact business uses, and city staff noted that the addition will not generate significant traffic or noise increases. With its proximity to residential neighborhoods, the expansion provides a convenient storage option while maintaining Bella Vista’s low-density character.
