Bella Vista and Gravette Partner on Hiwasse Road Improvements
The cities of Bella Vista and Gravette are teaming up to improve a key shared roadway.
During the April 21 work session, the Bella Vista City Council reviewed a resolution authorizing a cost-sharing agreement with the City of Gravette for resurfacing Hiwasse Road. The agreement outlines that each city will contribute funding proportionally based on how much of the road falls within their respective boundaries.
According to the proposal, a single resurfacing project will help maintain consistent pavement quality along Hiwasse Road, avoiding visible or structural transitions at the city limits. Officials also emphasized that a unified construction timeline would minimize traffic disruptions for residents.
The City of Bella Vista will manage the project bidding and construction oversight, simplifying administrative efforts and reducing costs for both municipalities. Gravette will reimburse Bella Vista for its share of the project expenses once the work is complete.
Funding for Bella Vista’s portion was previously approved in the city’s 2025 Capital Budget. City officials highlighted this collaboration as a demonstration of responsible infrastructure planning and regional cooperation.
The Council is expected to formally vote on the agreement at the next regular meeting.
