Greenhouse Road funding push moves a major corridor closer to buildout

Bentonville Combined Committee of the Whole & City Council Meeting. Reporting ahead of that meeting said council would vote on supporting a federal grant application for about $9.3 million for Greenhouse Road, with the required local match split between Bentonville and Centerton and Bentonville covering about 55%, or roughly $1.28 million.

Bentonville’s March 31 action matters because it pushes one of the area’s more talked-about west-side corridors closer to real construction funding. Greenhouse Road has long been a pressure point between Bentonville and Centerton, and this vote puts the city behind a larger outside funding request instead of relying only on local dollars. That makes it more than a routine agenda item — it is a signal that the city sees this corridor as a priority project.

The project itself is substantial. City project material describes this section of Greenhouse Road as an upgrade to a four-lane boulevard with pedestrian and bicycle facilities, while local TV reporting said the broader joint project would add sidewalks and bike-friendly features and move into final design, utility relocation and construction if additional funding is approved. Bentonville also announced separate ARDOT work at Highway 102 and Greenhouse Road beginning April 26, 2026, giving residents a visible reminder that this corridor is already entering a more active construction phase.
