🏛️ Rogers Lands $187K Grant to Boost Historic Preservation
The Rogers City Council unanimously approved a resolution to accept a $187,020 grant from the Walton Family Foundation to fund a new Historic Preservation Coordinator position.
The two-year role will be based at the Rogers Historical Museum and is designed to strengthen preservation initiatives amid the city’s fast-paced development. The grant will cover salary, benefits, and program support, including interdepartmental coordination, education, and cataloging efforts.
“This isn’t just about saving buildings,” said Serena Barnett, Museum Director. “It’s about preserving the stories, the culture, and the character of Rogers as it grows.”
The resolution also amended the 2025 budget to recognize and allocate the funds across payroll and operations accounts. While the grant does not commit the city to long-term funding for the position, officials say the short-term investment could yield lasting impact on planning and development decisions.
