🏚️ Rogers Orders Emergency Demolition of Tornado-Damaged Homes
Nearly a year after a devastating tornado swept through parts of Rogers, the City Council has taken decisive action to address three properties still left in disrepair. During its May 13 meeting, the council passed ordinances declaring homes at 506 N. 5th Street, 419 W. Persimmon Street, and 910 W. Persimmon Street as nuisance structures, citing extensive storm damage and public safety risks.
City inspectors reported that the structures remain dangerously unstable with collapsed garages, exposed framing, and unsecured lots. In each case, the property owners were given formal notice in February and allowed 14 days to address the violations. No significant repairs were made.
Under the new ordinances, property owners have 30 days to demolish the structures. If they fail to do so, the city will proceed with demolition and place a lien on the properties to recover costs.
